About

I have been interested in photography since I left school and I started out with a Praktica SLR using 35mm slide film before progressing to an Olympus OM-1 with various lenses which served me well for many years. The time came, however, when I realised that there was little that could be done with slides once the novelty of setting up all the gear for slide shows had worn off and so the camera lay unused for many years.

With the advent of digital cameras my interest was sparked again and I discovered the creativity that comes from being able to fully control on the computer what the camera has captured. For the first time it became possible to recreate what was in the mind’s eye when the shutter was released. Today processing the ‘digital film’ is as important a part of the process as choosing the subject and selecting the composition. In fact the camera itself plays the least part in the process although without a decent camera the process is almost lost before it has begun.

The photographs here are taken with a Canon 300D and several lenses but my favourite lens, used for almost all my landscape shots, is a super wide angle 10mm - 22m Canon zoom.

Enjoy the photographs and feel free to leave a comment if you wish.
